Don Karrer

Donald W. Karrer, 54, came to rest peacefully in his Kirkwood home after years of struggle with melanoma cancer. Beloved husband of Cindy (Glatt) Karrer and loving father of Lilliana and Chadwick Karrer, Don was born in Sioux City, Iowa, to Donald B. and Judith (Verschoor) Karrer. The couple lived in Sioux City and Kansas City, and made St. Louis their home the past 25 years.

Don enjoyed the arts, architecture and design, and making people laugh. His sense of humor or creative responses in the most unlikely situations attracted friendship of all ages and backgrounds. He spoke spontaneously at gatherings, sharing unique and honest personal perspectives.  His passion became his profession with his company, Option Creation, as he provided design solutions to companies and homes of friends.

Don leaves behind his wife, Cynthia; children, Lilliana and Chadwick; parents, Donald and Judith Karrer; brother Nicholas Karrer, his wife Katy, and children, Kramer, Brenna and William. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Bretha (Vonderharr) Verschoor, and Arnie and Genevieve (Jarman) Karrer.

Celebration of Life event will be Saturday, August 11, 3:30PM at The Sheldon Concert Hall, 3648 Washington Blvd., St. Louis, MO.

Celebration Mass will be Saturday, August 18th at 11:00 am at Bless Sacrament, 3012 Jackson Street, Sioux City, IA

Your support of Miles Against Melanoma brings meaning to Don’s seven plus years of fighting melanoma.  Miles Against Melanoma is a platform he supported to educate and enrich the lives of the families experiencing this disease.  The Karrer Krusaders involvement in this organization since 2011 has allowed our family the chance to be with others who have been affected by melanoma, share the struggle, and build lifelong friendships.
